DJ Krush & Toshinori Kondo – Ki-Oku (1996)

Dave Wesley, April 16th 2018
DJ Krush’s minimal instrumental hip hop intertwined with Toshinori Kondo‘s Kind Of Blue lonely trumpet puts me deep inside a Cowboy Bebop episode.
I had this on serious repeat when I so joyfully owned a vintage 1984 Porsche 928S in the early 2000s.
Serious driving music for serious driving (or chilling out).
The lo-fi hip hop movement is deeply inspired by this record, whether it knows it or not.
Too bad this is not available on any of the usual streaming platforms. I used to have it on CD but either forgot to rip it… or lost the files. Damn.
Best regards,
